 Important information for Guests
Disclaimer: Please ensure that the following booking information is read and understood. Guesthouses & B&B’s   for 2010 and their partners will not be held liable as this is a traditional experience at individually owned establishments. Please note that all accommodation is on request until confirmed directly by the establishment.

Booking considerations / information:
Additional Meals:
Breakfasts must be pre-booked as well as– lunch, dinner etc . These meals are an additional cost - please confirm prices with establishments when making reservations. The majority of these establishments/properties do not have a liquor license.

Cell phones (Mobile phones) / Internet:
The cell networks are based on the GSM 900 and 1800 band. Cell phones (Mobiles) can be rented at the airports and/or SIM cards can be purchased on a pay-as-you go/prepaid system from any of the service providers.
GSM, GPRS/EDGE and 3G/HSDPA (1.8Mb/s internet) is available. Some of our establishments offer internet access to clients. Please confirm availability and costs of using internet. Internet cafes are found throughout the country.
Cuisine:
A wide range of cuisine is available in South Africa. Owners will assist guests with suggestions / options of restaurants and entertainment in the vicinity. When visiting one of our township establishments, try some of the township cuisine – pap and sauce, stews, mogodu (tripe), samp and beans, to name a few or visit a shebeen (a township bar).
Electricity:
220 volts – the plug points are unique to South Africa comprising 3 round prongs. If you can not find an international adaptor in your country of origin they can be purchased in South Africa.
Health and other requirements:
The sun in South Africa is very strong, we advise the use of sun block- out lotion at all times during the day. If traveling to a malaria area please ensure that you take the appropriate preventative measures / medication – please consult your doctor.
Reservations:
When contacting one of our establishments to enquire / book accommodation please ensure that you confirm the following:

  • Availability
  • Rates
    • Please confirm rates as they vary according to location and grading
  • Payment:
    • Deposit - Please confirm deposit required for reservation and how the payment will be transacted
    • Payment options – Most establishments do not have credit card facilities, so direct deposit or cash will be required.
    • Checks/Cheques are not accepted.
  • Cancellation Fees:
    • Please confirm the cancellation policy with the establishment

Should there be any change or cancellation to your booking after confirmation, please liaise directly with the establishment.
Transport/Tours:
All our Establishments/guest houses work hand in hand with ‘Rent-A-Car and Driver’. www.rentacaranddriver.com. who are readily available from 6:00am till 10:45pm seven days of the week. You don’t have to fill in any papers with them , your host secures that for you on your behalf. Their cars range from a Toyota Avanza to a Mercedes Benz and every car comes with a driver and it’s the cheapest and the safest mode.
We also have associated tour operators that can transfer or arrange tours for guests.

VAT:
14% VAT will be charged on all purchases and services in South Africa
Weather:
The weather varies between regions and is generally sunny. Summers are generally very hot with some areas experiencing dry heat and others high humidity.

Guests Rules for Renting a property

    • When do I have to pay for my booking?
      You will have to pay a 50% deposit on booking confirmation and the remaining 50% at least 4 days prior to the check in date.
      Is there a breakage deposit that I need to pay?
      Yes, our establishments charge a 10% Breakages Deposit prior to check in. We hold this deposit to pay for any damages/stolen property.
    • How do I pay for my booking?
      You can transfer directly into our allocated bank account or direct to the account of the establishment as per agreement between the two of you.
    • What paper work do I have to complete?
      On check-in you will need to sign the registration form.
    • Who will check me in?
      The owner of the property or the staff will check you in.
    • Who will check me out?
      The owner of the property or the staff will check you out.
    • What happens if I have a problem while I’m staying at the property?
      A full list of all emergency numbers will be given to the guest/s on check in with the owners as well as our numbers and contact details. We at Guesthouses for 2010 as well as the owner will try our best to aid you (within reason and at our sole discretion), where ever possible with any issues/concerns that arise during the tenancy.
    • What is Guesthouse for 2010’s role in the rental process?
      As intermediaries ,we aim  to assist you to find the  cheapest and safe accommodation for your stay in South Africa facilitate as well as   market and advertise the  various properties on offer for 2010.
    • Te rental of property is between you and the owners of South African Property
    • Where is the property relative to the airport, stadium?
      This information appears on all listings, but should guests have any questions regarding the location of certain properties, Guesthouses for 2010 will endeavour to confirm this information.
    • What do I do about transport?
      We have made special arrangement for all our guesthouses for the cheapest and best option called ‘Rent-A-Car and driver’ is the best option to ensure that you are able to get around. This service is available from 6:00am until 10:45pm at night seven days of the week. Their cars range from a Toyota Avanza to a Mercedes Benz. You don’t pay extra for the chauffer  because they are “owner drivers “The owners of guests houses will secure the transport on your request or you can do it direct www.rentacaranddriver.com .Unlike taxis they can ferry you from one province(state) to another and you can use one car/ driver for the duration of your stay in South Africa.
